50th Anniversary
Weekend
Düsseldorfer Grashüpper At the end of May 2003 AbC went to Germany to
celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Düsseldorfer Grasshüpper with
Folkdansens Vänner Malmö from Sweden.
Thursday
After an uneventful journey, we arrived at the Oberlin-Haus in time
for a barbecue!

Friday
In the morning we went to the Town Hall for a
reception with Mayor Winterwebber, after which we had some free time in
Düsseldorf. In the afternoon we went to dance at Von-Briochhausen-Stift,
Kempen a home for the elderly, the day was rounded off with The Grasshüpper
Birthday Party at the Oberlin-Haus.

On our behalf, Brian presented the Mayor with a small
pair of clogs made by Sandra Turton.
The Mayor congratulated the Grasshüpper on their
50th Anniversary and each group made a presentation to the Mayor.

Saturday
On Saturday morning we all
danced in the Market Place - am Bruckerfeld- Lechglingen. In the
evening we were part of an International Folkdance Celebration at the
Oberlin-Haus which included dances
from Holland, the Balkans, other parts of Germany and an Appalachian
dance from Sara.
Sunday
Sunday morning saw us all
parading through the Town of Langenfeld after which we danced outside Zum
Brauhaus, where we also had lunch. In the afternoon we went to
Malinses house for tea & delicious cakes! In the evening we had
a relaxed time - eating, drinking and dancing!
